Jean Savaree's practice, since joining the firm in 1985, has focused on employment law issues.  Throughout her tenure at the firm, Jean has provided private and public employers proactive advice, counseling and training to ensure that her clients are in compliance with all local, state and federal employment law mandates.


Jean is committed to providing quality legal services, being responsive to client requests, communicating clearly, and maintaining a common sense practical approach to problem-solving.


Current Legal Practice:


Jean is a partner at the firm where she practices law with a focus on municipal and employment law.  She provides comprehensive employment law advice to her retained public and private clients, including consultations regarding personnel policies and procedures, disciplinary issues, employment disputes and employment contracts.  Jean conducts training seminars for public and private employers, investigates claims of employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation for both public and private employers, and has testified as an expert witness in state and federal litigation.  She has also represented both employers and employees in proceedings with administrative agencies including the Public Employees Relations Board, Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the California Labor Commission.  Jean has also represented public and private clients in mediation, arbitration and litigation in both state and federal court.


Jean currently serves as the City Attorney for Foster City, Town Attorney for Woodside, District General Counsel for Coastside Fire Protection District and Department General Counsel for Central County Fire Department.  As the attorney for these public entities she provides advice to their staff, elected and appointed officials on a broad array of topics including but not limited to open meetings law, conflicts of interest, land uses and employment law.  Jean also drafts her clients' ordinances, resolutions and contracts.  She also handles litigation filed by or against her clients.


Bar Activities:


Jean has served her legal community for many years, both at the state and local level.  She is currently Chair of San Mateo County Bar Association Municipal Law Section.  She has served as President of Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County.  She has served on the State Bar of California Conference of Delegates and as the Peninsula Representative for the Legal Advocacy Committee for the California League of Cities. Jean also serves on the mediation panel for the San Mateo County Bar Association and San Mateo Superior Court.
